Obituary for James Dudley Barnette

James Dudley Barnette
TUSCALOOSA – James Dudley Barnette, age 55, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2017, at Valley View Baptist Church with Billy Joy and Ken McCormick officiating. A private burial will follow with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Norris Barnette; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hudson Barnette and Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Monts; and niece, Melanie Yelverton.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Barnette; daughter, Anna Blake Barnette; son, Noah Barnette; sister, Lynn Raymon of Demopolis; brother, Darin Barnette (Suzanne) of Northport; mother, Dot Barnette of Tuscaloosa; and nieces, Kayla Harper (Alex) of Greensboro and Haley Barnette of Northport; nephew, Owen Barnette, and great-nephew, Hudson Harper of Greensboro.
Dudley was born and raised in Demopolis, Ala. He graduated from Demopolis Academy and then attended the University of Alabama where he received his B.S. in Microbiology. He was a faithful and loved employee of DCH Regional Medical Center for 30 years. He was well-loved by so many people. His true loves, other than family and friends were softball and baseball where we spent so many fun years making new friends and raising our kids. We wouldn't trade even one day of those times "Dud Strong".
Honorary pallbearers are Valley View Baptist Church, Hillcrest baseball, Hillcrest softball, University of Mobile softball, Demopolis Academy Class of 1980, friends and coworkers at DCH, and many special friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dudley Barnette ALS Scholarship Fund, Bank of Tuscaloosa, Attn: Kristi Kamplain, P.O. Box 2508, Tuscaloosa, AL 35403.
