Obituary for Danny Elmore

Danny O’Neal Elmore, age 70, of Moundville, Ala., died July 27, 2017, at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Moundville Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Duckett officiating. Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Elmore and Grace Elmore Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Judy N. Elmore; sons, Keith Elmore (Stephanie) and Kevin Elmore (Shelley); sister, Betty Campbell (Eddie); brother, William “Sonny” Elmore (Gayle); and grandchildren, Karli Elmore, Brayden Elmore, John Nevin Elmore, Julia Elmore and Hunter Elmore.
Danny was born September 14, 1946, at Druid City Hospital. His father moved their family to Butler to pursue a pipe fitting job at James River.
He graduated high school in Butler. After high school, he enrolled at Shelton State Community College to become a barber. It was there that he and Judy met. They married June 8, 1968 and eventually had Keith and Kevin.
Danny worked at BF Goodrich for 31 years and retired in 2004. He enjoyed working in his shop and tinker around with tractors. He also enjoyed hanging out with his coffee friends at the County Line Grocery.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. We will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Pallbearers will be Eugene McClain, Drury Kelley, Perry Turner, Clay Resler, Cody Resler, Robin Hunt, Burt Campbell and Jason Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers are the County Line Grocery owners and employees, all his coffee shop friends and special caregivers, Shirley Fields and Carthenia Blackmon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Moundville Baptist Church Fund, Amedisys Hospice Care or the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Center (ACRC) Network.
