Jared Alan Waits
NORTHPORT - Jared Alan Waits, age 40, of Northport, Ala., died July 12, 2017. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Dr. Tim Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Cemetery in Northport with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Sunday, July 16, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack A. and Mary Marie Truitt Waits and Wiley and Opal Harris Bond.
Survivors include his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Johnny Waits of Northport, Ala. and brothers, Dr. John B. Waits (Rachel) of Centreville, Ala., Jason Waits (Lindsay) of Birmingham, Ala. and Jeremy Waits (Kim) of Verona, Ky. Jared is also survived by ten nieces and nephews whom he adored and his special chocolate lab, BooBoo.
Jared was born on April 21, 1977 in Rochester, Minn. His family moved to Tuscaloosa when Jared was three and then later moved to Northport.
Jared graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1995. He attended Auburn University for two years and transferred to The University of Alabama where he graduated in New College in 1999.
Jared was the owner of Independent Auto Sales in Northport, Ala. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his nieces and nephews, working on the land and making things grow.
Jared was bilingual and went on several trips using his skills as an interpreter. He traveled to South America and Indonesia on mission trips. He was a real outdoorsman and hiked the entire Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia in 1999 and spent as much time outdoors as he could.
Jared was an animal lover. He had several pets throughout his life but had a special love of Labradors. Simone was his longtime companion until she passed away and then he found BooBoo and she has been with him since she was a pup.
Jared was a very passionate young man. He was loved by a great number of friends and family, and will be sorely missed.
