Obituary for Mary Massey Wyatt

Mary Massey  Wyatt
Mary Alberlee Massey Hargrave Wyatt, age 88, of Moundville, died March 13, 2017, at Northport Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Big Sandy Baptist Church with Brother Terry Lolley and Brother Dennis Avery officiating. Burial will follow in Big Sandy Community Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Addie Mae and D.E. Massey; Brothers Emmett Massey, John Massey, Joe Massey, Richard Massey, and Stewart Massey; Sisters Annie Mae Faulkenberry, Juanita Beach, Cherry Standifer, Lois Elizabeth Massey; and husbands, Rudy Hargrave and Yerby Wyatt.
Survivors include daughters, Sheila Hargrave Warner and Janet Wyatt (Gil Anderson); grandchildren, Cade, Westervelt and Elizabeth Warner, River Anderson, Megan Hysom, Kelly Anderson and Erin Caudill; and great-grandchildren, Vivian Warner, Hannah Claire Caudill, Audrey Phelan, Meredith Hysom and Henry Phelan.
Mary graduated from Hale County High School and attended the University of Alabama majoring in music and then graduated from Massey Business College in Birmingham. After eloping to Las Vegas to marry Rudy, they lived and worked in Hollywood, Calif. for seven years. They returned to Alabama to raise their family. Following Rudy's untimely death, she moved back home to Moundville, where she met and married Yerby. They built their home in Big Sandy where she lived the rest of her life.
Known as "The Flower Lady" she cultivated hundreds of varieties of daffodils, irises and daylilies and even has a daylily named after her. In addition to her garden club friends, she mentored many aspiring gardeners and was always available for sharing bulbs, advice, and beautiful, exotic arrangements.
She was an active member of Big Sandy Baptist Church and Victorious Life Church. She was well known for helping anyone in need. She loved her Lord, family, flowers, cooking, antiques and beautiful sunsets.
Pallbearers will be Cade Warner, Westervelt Warner, River Anderson, Robbie Carroll, Barry Wyatt, Larry Standifer and Richard Anderson.
